Black Comedy

ChickenScratch Theatre

Brindsley Miller, a struggling artist, and his fiancée Carol Melkett are preparing to host some important guests for the evening. Brindsley is poor, so in order to impress them, he has… “borrowed” the furniture from his neighbour, who collects antiques, without permission. The first guest is Carol’s father, Colonel Melkett, and the second is a famous art collector, who are both due to arrive at any moment, when disaster strikes, and the lights go out! The evening devolves into ruin when the neighbour comes back, as well as Brindsley’s ex-girlfriend/affair partner, so he must return all of the furniture, hide his girlfriend, all while maintaining the illusion of control.

Black Comedy is for lovers of schadenfreude, dark humour, and farce. Lovingly directed by ChickenScratch Theatre, a company started by best friends Lottie Cree and Anne-Marie Herbert. Featuring Kamryn Bailey, Maisie Steels, Brodie Jones, Laura Liimatta, Isobel Murray, and Rebecca Cree.
